Anibal Sanchez racked up an impressive total of 12 strikeouts as the San
Francisco Giants beat the hapless Detroit Tigers in 12 innings by a score of
3 to 2.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. San Francisco was
victorious in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Jacoby Ellsbury
drew a walk. Jose Reyes stepped up next and he stroked a base-hit. David
Dejesus then banged out a single making San Francisco the winners and sending
the 14,852 fans home happy. San Francisco out-hit Detroit for the game, 12
hits to 7.

Freddy Dolsi(3-0) allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Brandon Backe(6-9) was given the loss. He pitched 11 and 1/3
innings and surrendered 12 hits and 4 walks.

The San Francisco ballclub's record now stands at 56-85. With the loss, the
Detroit ballclub's record is 58-85, worst in the division.
