The Detroit Tigers nipped the hopeless Oakland Athletics 2 to 1 at Comerica
Park in a hard fought contest.

Detroit scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Eugenio
Velez lined a one-base hit. Velez was safe at second on a stolen base.
Detroit continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Angel
Berroa was up next and he would hit into a fielders choice. After another
out, Curtis Granderson got his chance to keep things going, but he went down
on strikes. Oakland had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Nate Robertson(7-6) was the winner allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Todd
Jones got the save, his 22nd. Cla Meredith(0-1) was hit with the loss in
relief.
