Giants Fire Hitting Coach

The San Francisco Giants, mired in a woeful htting slump, fired hitting coach Barnaby McGillicutty. Under McGillicutty's watch the Giants, as a team were hitting a collective .242 with a pathetic .699 OPS.

One of the Giant's brightest young stars and leadoff man Jose Reyes seemed to have the most trouble with McGillicutty's instruction. Reyes, a career .286 hitter is currently hitting .197 in 233 at bats with a brutal .591 OPS. When asked about the firing of McGillicutty, Reyes said

"I am glad to see him go. He was always drinking vodka and smoking cigarettes. He never really gave me any advice, he just said see the ball, be the ball, hit the ball. I hope I can turn it around for super cool badass awesome owner Joe Mundy."

McGillicutty was seen sulking away from the team clubhouse in a cloud of smoke. He was asked his opinion on the move but nothing he said was printable. The Giants plan to use a hitting coach by committee until a permanent coach can be found and hired. With a 22-35 record this 09' season is shaping up to be a long one. One bright spot is that it is Jose Beer night June 16th. Yes folks on June 16th all beer at the Giants game will cost whatever Jose Reyes batting average is.
