The Cleveland Indians have had a good ball club for years, and this year under new management is no exception. Dan Mudry has put together a winning combination that has his team among the best in the Ted Williams Strat League. The Indians are 21-8 after two blocks, putting them a half game ahead of the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central Division. The Royals, who are defending their World Series Championship, are playing very good ball too at 20-8. Felipe Lopez is hitting the ball really well right now, batting .358 in 106 at bats with 5 homeruns and 20 RBI. Lopez has an OPS approaching 1.000 and is leading the team in hitting and is third on the team in the RBI category. His timely hitting has helped the Indians to where they are right now, on top of one of the toughest divisions in the league.
Sean Hill and CC Sabathia are both 3-0 with sub 4.00 ERAs. The Indians have given up some runs but they have scored a lot of runs too, and have just flat out found ways to win ballgames. One of the chief reasons for their winning ways has been closer Hong-Chih Kuo with his 9 saves and 2.30 ERA. Opponents are hitting a measly .154 against this tough left hander.
It's a long season but for the time being the Cleveland Indians can enjoy being on top of their division. Among the best teams in the league, those teams with 21 wins, (the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians) the Indians have the best home record.
